Jessica & Edgar’s Engagement – Vassar College – New York Photographer

I am so excited to post the images from Jessica and Edgar’s engagement shoot at Vassar College. They were such a fun couple to work with and the thing that I love hearing the most right after the shoot is that everyone had a great time!

Having done a fair amount of engagement shoots at this point in time, I am noticing many post-shoot relief comments about how much fun was had – with clients telling me that they initially came into the shoot a little apprehensive -not sure if I would be posing them uncomfortably or asking them to do things they don’t want to do (i.e. like do handstands or something??) I really do want people to have fun during their session – and having fun together is such a great way to get to know each other prior to the wedding day.

Oh, and where is this leading, well, after we were done shooting, Edgar said that he had fun, felt really comfortable during the whole shoot, and that I (or we, since Maarit was shooting with me as well) made things easy….and it was great to get feedback. Truly, I am just being myself, I think that is all it takes. If you let your guard down, be yourself, have fun and just be straight up genuine, amazing things happen…

Sofie – our Labradoodle puppy

It’s been a busy few months and as I was editing photos this morning I thought it was about time to take a few minutes to check out the few photos I took of our new puppy Sofie at Breakheart Reservation a few weeks ago. I haven’t taken that many photos of her – so sad I know – but I’ve been caught in taking photos of other people at the moment….need to change that up a bit because I am missing these cute puppy months!

Sofie is a labradoodle, she is now 13 weeks old and I can’t believe how big she is getting! We picked her up from Serendipity Labradoodles in Rhode Island the day after returning from our wedding in Miami. She was only 8 weeks at that time and weighed in at 7 pounds. She is now a whopping 15 pounds and continuing to grow!

She doesn’t sit still for long so she is a difficult subject…but I suppose it is good practice!

Andrea Jenkins - OMG!!! Those eyes I miss. Sofie looks GREAT and seems to be quite the retriever too. We miss her but are so glad she is with you and Maarit!!! Keep the pics coming. I had no idea you were a photog!! : ) I enjoyed looking through your website. Great pics!!

Laleska - Yes, Simon and Emily, that’s US $$–not your pounds or euros. The whole pay scale may be dinfreeft in UK/Eire. My advances there were lower than the average advance here. But then, I was unagented.PW, I think the low end figure for romance is for category romances, which usually have a lower word count and are published more like magazines than books–with the same short shelf-life.

Nicole & Garrick Pt. 2 – Poughkeepsie New York Wedding Photographer

You might recall the posting a few weeks back on Nicole and Garrick’s wedding in Poughkeepsie, New York. I am happy to present pt. 2, the final edition of some special moments from their wedding!

It really was a joy shooting these good people. The wedding reception took place at Garrick’s family home which had a wonderful yard for an outdoor summer wedding. The tent, the decor, the DIY touches, the BBQ food, the country time lemonade, the cupcakes, the flowers, the lanterns, the engagement photos hanging from trees for guests to cut off and take home as memories of the special day, everything was super amazing!

Nicole is from San Francisco and met Garrick out that way a few years ago while Garrick was attending art school. Before we did our engagement shoot in January, I hung out with them for a little bit. Through those conversations I could see the love they had for each other – and that they were awesome friends. I thank you both for inviting me (and Maarit) to capture your wedding memories, it was truly an amazing experience!

Hanna - Ann – Each of these redheaded bteueias has a wonderful personality all of their own and you’ve captured them all in your photographs so perfectly. Thank goodness I don’t have to choose which one I like the best! Beautiful ..all beautiful.

Shakeel - HalldorSurely the value of death masks was as the only way to obtain a true lienkess? We still dispute whether Roubiliac, or Hogarth, or Heyman, captured the true lienkess of Garrick but there can be no question at all that the death mask is the real thing; the only lienkess that is absolutely beyond dispute. In an age before photography, that must have given them a unique value, even if the notion seems a bit creepy today.

Gemma - Eliza WardYeah, that’s what’s so gross about it. It’s like looking right at a coprse. And yet I managed to look at it right before bed last night and didn’t have nightmares! (Which is ironic as a few days ago I watched an Agatha Christie movie before bed, and then dreamed that my friend died!)

Julio - PollyLooks like the play was good fun, watching a play in a room rhtaer than on a stage is a very different experience, isn’t it, did you feel like you’re a part of it?Lichfield sounds great I did actually visit Lichfield once many, many years ago I remember the gothic cathedral.

Jane & Craig – Villa Victoria Wedding in Boston

I have been getting my blog postings up, which is super exciting and the product of lots of editing!

And now for Jane and Craig’s wedding at the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts in the South End of Boston. What a neat venue and so many fun DIY things. They did all of the decorating and there were so many nice touches, one of those being the Whiteknot.org marriage equality ribbons which I ended up providing at my recent wedding as well [thanks for the idea]!

Jane & Craig were so great to work with, both work in Museums and I am probably not going to get this totally right – but Jane works with funerary objects and Craig works with restoring really, really old things that came from old interesting places…okay, so I know that wasn’t very specific, but needless to say, I do think it is super cool. Maybe I am not so cultured, but they are the first folks I have known that work in Museums and I think it must be super awesome!

Hannilie - Hey Eric, I love to watch your videos! They really help me with training my collies The first video of your I watched was the loose leash walking and I was hitched to your dog training after that. I trained my 10 yr old horse for the last 5 yrs and I cant get over how similar dogs and horses learn.. I did the same walking exercise with her. I cant wait to try this with my girl to help her get over he chasing kids. Thank you so much!!!

Cherri & Candice – Boston Common Wedding

Cherri and Candice are from Maryland and they are another couple that I photographed in connection with Bernadette from 14 Stories. Their wedding took place at the Boston Common Band Stand during the last weekend in May and they were married by Justice of the Peace Janet Benzan. You can see a great image of Janet below as she is marrying Cherri and Candice!

This couple was great. This wedding was great. Tears of joy were shed. Yeah, I love weddings! I am not sure who loved the camera more, Cherri or Candice? How awesome do these two women look? I got the inside scoop on Candice’s suit – it was custom made in Delaware, dang! The day was hot and humid, and both these women were all dressed up so I kept checking in with them as to whether they wanted to keep shooting or not, and they just kept saying YES lets keep going…and so we kept on going. We hit several locations right on Tremont, alongside the common, and it all seemed to contribute to some great wedding day portraits.
