Erin & John Engagement Shoot – Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester

So, I am on a roll, two engagement shoots in two weeks and it has been a blast! This past Sunday I met up with Erin, John and their Golden Retriever Oliver at Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. And….it turns out that John and I graduated from the New England School of law the same year, small world! Maarit even joined me on the shoot, armed with a camera herself! It was a COLD but awesome day!

Erin and John will be getting married in September at the Elks at Bass Rock and it is sure to be a wedding filled with great New England scenery. This was my first time to this beach even though I live on the North Shore myself…but this beach is certainly a bit further north from my home. I hear it is a favorite of many when the summer time rolls around. Good Harbor Beach was super serene during this time of year though…

Here are a few shots – I am really excited to get these posted on the blog because there were a lot of great shots from the day!

Megan Beth - Awesome session Kirstin! I simply adore that last one, and I love that they incorporated their dog in the images. The last one would look killer as a huge canvas! Keep rockin it!

kristin - Thanks for your nice compliment! I don’t own any canvas prints yet, but I have to get some to hang around my house so I can show clients how awesome they are!

Nicole & Garrick Engagement Shoot in Boston

On Martin Luther King Day I had my first official engagement shoot with Nicole and Garrick. I admit, I was a little nervous – not only was this my first engagement shoot, but it was the first time I was meeting them! Nicole had found me on Craigslist and we initially met over the phone. So, we all met up at Bukowski’s [where I started out with a Victory Golden Monkey] along with Grant, Garrick’s brother who attends Berklee College of Music. Nicole and Garrick traveled up to Boston from Poughkeepsie to drop Grant off at school. So, we ate some lunch, talked about some deep things like faith, God and the catholic church and I just knew that I had met some really cool people…

Okay, lots of extraneous information….anyway we had an awesome time but it was SO cold outside! It had just snowed earlier that morning and making our way around the streets was a little tough – but the First Church of Christ Complex worked out great! After taking some shots outside, we escaped the cold and went into the Prudential Center Mall to warm up a bit. I kept taking pictures….

I had an awesome time and I can’t wait for their wedding, which is going to take place in New York in June.  There are lots of great pictures from the day.  Here are some teasers.

Hearther - I totally have steckir envy. I would love that on my van. Plus two more kids, minus the dogs and ponies, and sprinkle some worms in for good measure. Thanks for the laugh!

The El Ayadi Family – Hampton Beach – New Hampshire

I just keep on shooting and I am loving it. Facebook and word of mouth have been great for me and Craigslist has been helping me book weddings and really, I feel so fortunate for all the great things that have been happening with my professional photography career!

So this past Sunday Maarit and I headed up to Hampton Beach New Hampshire to shoot the El Ayadi family. The weather was great, but it was COLD! But nonetheless, it was really a great shoot – Lucas and Issac were the cutest kids in the world. Seriously, I mean it! And Lucas was a natural, this kid was pulling out his skateboard, snowboard, razor scooter, all kinds of stuff and pulling poses for me left and right. Maarit and had a great time up north with the El Ayadi Family and it was a pleasure spending some time with them and being given the opportunity to photograph them.

So here is a little teaser, there were so many great pictures from the day and I can’t wait to get through them all! I tried some Totally Rad textures again in one of these pictures. I keep meaning to use them more because they are really neat.

On the way home Maarit and I hit the Black Cow in Newburyport on the way home and had a bowl of chili to warm us up. On our ride home Maarit was commenting on how the ocean looks in the winter, and just how these coastal towns feel in the winter. There is just a peaceful feeling to things, sort of hard to articulate. Maybe it is the lack of the loud sight-seeing crowds, beach goers, boats, and just all the stuff that goes on when it’s warm out…whatever it is, it added to an amazing day!

Sandra Brownsey - Hi-
I wanted to inquire about some family group shots maybe at the beach in NH on Friday, Nov 29th. There will be about 20 of us. We rarely ever all get together and I wanted to capture it with some good photos. Is that something you do?
If not, can you refer me to someone in the Rye/Greenland/Portsmouth area?

Thank you very much for any help.

Gay Wedding Planner Bernadette of 14 Stories

A few weeks ago my friend, gay wedding planner extraordinaire, and owner/president of 14 Stories came over to our place for a photo shoot. I was psyched about this and after a few sips of red wine – we went to it!

I’ve worked as a DJ at a few weddings Bernadette has planned, coordinated, and amazingly executed so I can’t say enough good things about her.  She’s actually going to be our day of coordinator at our wedding in Miami and I am so excited to know that both her and her wife Jen are going to be there to make sure that things are in check….and beyond…because people don’t even know the half of things that great logistics coordinators like Bernadette pull off.  With so many moving pieces it’s not easy folks!

Ok, so here is a little taste of what came out to the shoot. Bernadette wanted some edgy, so I played around with a few actions from Totally Rad Actions to see what I could mix up.

Sabrina & Latifat’s Princess Party

A few weeks ago I was invited to photograph the 4th Birthday party for Sabrina and Latifat. Princess Sharon (she’s fabulous) included me in this awesome celebration and it was the MOST exciting children’s birthday party I have ever attended. After all, this was my first time experiencing all the wonderfulness of Princess Sharon and her helpers, like Henry the Pirate.

Every detail of this party was accounted for and absolutely PRINCESS quality. The birthday girls couldn’t have been happier to experience this party, their big smiles said it all! There was story telling, face painting, singing, magic tricks, puppets, a chocolate fountain, an amazing enchanted castle cake and more! I keep concentrating on the princesses – but the boys were able to dress up as pirates which was thoroughly enjoyed! Oh…and I should note that both moms and dads were given the opportunity to partake in the festivities by wearing pink feather boas and pirate hats!

Here are some teasers to enjoy and big thanks to the families (and Sharon) for having me there for this special day!

Sharon Chase - Kristin, you have outdone yourself! Thank you so much for being a special part of my event. I look forward to using you as my event photographer again and I just think these photos are breathtaking. Thank you so much and I can’t wait to see them all!
